A prominent member of the Zikist Movement and Nigeria’s first Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi is dead.

Until his death, Amechi, who hailed from Amihe village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was a nationalist, and one of the very few surviving member of the Zikist Movement led by first President of Nigeria, Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Amechi was also a member of the Anambra Elders Forum, the highest State Advisory body that has Chief Emeka Anyaoku as the Chairman..

In his days as an activist in the Zikist Movement he was popularly known as The Boy Is Good, a moniker that went with him into his advanced age.

GWG.NG reports that the death of Mbazulike Amaechi came amid failed hopes by him and other Igbo leaders to persuade President Muhammadu Buhari to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Mbazulike Amaechi had during a visit to Abuja along with other Igbo leaders pleaded with Buhari to release Kanu to his custody as a last wish.

Meanwhile the death came on a day that several Nigerian celebrities have been condoling with music star, David Adeleke, aka Davido over the death through drowning of his son, Ifeanyi.
