In a rare expression of anger, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, on Sunday night came out to chide Dino Melaye, a spokesman of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Obi showed his rare anger during the Arise Television townhall meeting for presidential candidates that was boycotted by APC’s Bola Tinubu. Atiku who is out of the country was represented by his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
GWG.NG reports that besides asking Obi what was seen like tough and challenging questions including his perception of the presidency, Obi lost his temper after Melaye described his supporters as ‘noisemakers’.
Besides, he regularly interrupted Obi with snide remarks and gestures.
Reacting, Obi said: “I won’t take this. That colonel is an NNPP person, and you’re saying it’s Obi People. Dino, please stop that!
“I have taken enough from you here. Why are you always calling me?”
Senator Melaye has been consistent in attacking Peter Obi mainly on the claim that Obi is draining support from Atiku’s followers in the Southeast and the Middle Belt.
Besides, he has been using Twitter and other channels to say that Obi cannot win the election and that those backing him were actually draining support for Atiku and inevitably helping Tinubu.
