Sanwo-Olu Takes Over Cost Of Henry Nwosu’s Treatment At LASUTH

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday took over the cost of treatment of ailing ex-Nigeria international footballer, Henry Nwosu.

Henry Nwosu, 59, who transitioned from playing football to managing a football club, has been suffering from an undisclosed ailment for some time.

The former Super Eagle’s player health condition got national attention following the intervention of another ex-international Segun Odegbami.

On Thursday, president of St. Finbarr’s College Old Boys Association (SFCOBA) Patrick Doyle shared on Facebook a photo of Nwosu at the Lagos airport, saying that the former footballer has been moved from a specialist hospital in Asaba, Delta State to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

Patrick, who is also an actor and filmmaker, also thanked Sanwo-Olu for taking over Nwosu’s treatment just three hours after being notified.

He wrote, “St. Finbarr’s College Old Boys Association is proud to have instigated and executed the transfer of our legendary old boy Henry Nwosu (MON) from a hospital in Asaba to LASUTH in Lagos. We are also eternally grateful to Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu the Lagos State Governor who acceded to our request to take over the cost of Henry’s care on Monday 14th November just 3 hours after the request was made in the early hours of the same day.

“We are equally grateful to the forum of Distinguished Old Boys who collectively strategized and guided the actions that produced this outcome. They also provided the funds to evacuate Henry from Asaba to Lagos by air.

“Some other persons who graciously cooperated in this noble undertaking are Mr. Harrison Jalla and Chief Segun Odegbami (MON) of the Professional Footballers Association, Prof. Akin Abayomi Hon. Commissioner of Health Lagos State, Dr. Peace Ighosewe CMD Asaba Specialist Hospital, Prof.Tokunbo Fabanwo CMD LASUTH, young Dr. Isaac Adu who accompanied Henry on the flight from Asaba and the cinsumate communication strategist to the governor Bestman Nze aka Irunmole.

“We now entreat The Most High to crown our efforts with the complete restoration to good health of our esteemed Distinguished Conqueror Henry Nwosu.”
