Hiker Falls To Death Taking Selfie With Wife
Authorities say that a hiker died on Saturday, December 10, when he fell down a mountain while photographing the region with his wife.
The incident took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Mt. Willard’s peak in Crawford Notch, New Hampshire.
“The hiker’s wife heard her husband cry and looked over to notice him tumbling over the side of the mountain down a steep drop that extended to the bottom of the mountain down about 800 feet,” the agency said in a statement.
His wife made an emergency 911 call. Around 2:30 pm, rescue personnel came and descended the cliff, where they discovered the hiker around 300 feet below the peak, said the agency.\
At the scene, the hiker’s death was confirmed. The body was hauled to the summit by Mountain Rescue Service personnel who had pulled it from the cliff’s face.
The name of the victim has not been given out by authorities.
