Tope Alabi, Timi Dakolo Perform At Sammie Okposo’s Night Of Tributes

A night of tributes was held in honour of the late gospel singer Sammie Okposo on Tuesday, December 13 at La Madison Place, Oniru in Lagos.

Sammie Okposo who was one of Nigeria’s finest gospel singers died in his sleep on Friday, November 25 at the age of 51.

Among those who performed at the night of tributes were Tope Alabi, Timi Dakolo, Eben, and Mike Abdul.

During the event, an emotional Tope sang a farewell song for her colleague while those who could not hold back their tears could be seen crying during her performance.

Recounting a moment with the late singer, she said, “I remember when he called and said ‘Tope, I want to come for that your 49th birthday. The whole of Sammie.’ I said, ‘The whole of Sammy.’”

The gospel singer also encouraged people to emulate the act of doing good while they are still alive.

Mike Abdul and Eben also led the choir in high praise.

Others who graced the night of tributes included actors Segun Arinze, Charles Inojie, Chinedu Ikedieze, and comedians Ali Baba and Akpororo.

Segun recounted the happy moments he shared with Sammie and the times they worked together.

Sammie Okposo will be buried at a private ceremony on December 16.
