Shippers’ Council, UASC Set To Host 9th Edition Of African Shippers Day

The 9th edition of African Shippers’ Day is to hold from Monday January 16 to Wednesday January 18, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), has announced.
The three-day activity will be held in cooperation with the Union of African Shippers’ Councils (UASC) with the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos being venue.
According to the programme of events President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to declare the programme open according to Rakiya Dhikru-Ygboyaju, Head of the Public Relations Unit Nigerian Shippers’ Council, in a statement to the media.
According to the statement, Engr. Mu’Azu Jaji will speak on the topic of “African Continental Free Trade Agreement: A Veritable Platform for African Shippers to Mainstream into Global Trade,” a available to Daily Independent.
The statement further deposed that Mr. Wamkele Mene, the secretary-general of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), will speak on the subject of “AfCFTA: Vehicle for Africa’s Economic Growth & Development.”
Mrs. Olubunmi Osuntuyi, Secretary-General, International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria (ICCN) will also talk on “The Role of INCOTERMS 2020 in the Implementation of African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA),” according to the statement.
Mr. Nwachukwu Remigus, Manager of Trade Finance of the African Export-Import Bank, is expected to deliver a paper on “Payment Systems in International Trade.”
Members of the Union of African Shippers’ Councils, as well as those nations maintaining associate membership with the Union, shippers, and marine stakeholders, will attend the event. In 2021, Ghana played host to the 8th annual African Shippers’ Day.
