The Omo-Agege Trial: When An Emperor Comes To Judgment
By Lord Davidson Onedju

Generally, it is accepted all over the world where democratic precedence abounds and the supremacy of political parties take a toll on all men who engage in them and that’s why it’s been often said that party is supreme.
Yes, the party is supreme! The supremacy of a political party is one that subjects all members under a singular conformity, no matter the political rankings, status, acquaintances or social standings.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, especially the Delta State Chapter is not an exemption from political parties that enjoy the right of supremacy over members, most especially as it concerns the issues of gross misconduct and gall misdemeanor.
When matters of gross misconduct are raised, nobody is considered a sacred cow. Everyone must be treated in a like manner irrespective of who or what they are. After all it is party precedence! No individual or group of cronies can be bigger than a political party and as such, an erring member must be brought to judgement.
A petition by concerned leaders and elders of the Delta State APC has been written and submitted to the State Chairman and the State Working Committee (SWC). Prayers contained in it are indicative of gross misconduct which are very indicting. It is a petition against Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege in respect to his activities during the 2023 general elections. It is widespread that Agege did not act well in accordance with our party’s ethos within the period. His characteristic disposition ran riot against all that the APC holds sacrosanct.
In absolute desperation some of his ardent supporters are now trying everything to water down the petition claiming that it is concocted by unknown faces who may not be members of the APC in Delta State. But that is not an issue as far as they are members of APC. Petition does not demand men of grey hair or men with fat bank accounts to write.
Anybody can write a petition whether an adult or a child. The argument is that. Does the said petition emanate from a sincere conscience or was it done out of biased intentions? If it is done from a clear conscience, then it is the resolve of the State Chairman and the SWC to look into it holistically and take a concise decision.
Key to the petition again is that. Was there an issue(s) of gross misconduct against the individual concerned in the petition? Once it is established that there was actually gross misconduct then the State Chairman and the SWC should ignore every distraction posed by the supporters of the accused and set up the necessary disciplinary committee to deal with the issue decisively.
The petition should not be swept under the carpet. It should be given all the attention it deserves so as to serve as a deterrent to other members and to show that Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege or anyone else is not bigger than APC. He must be summoned to answer to the allegations leveled against him in the petition. He has to clear himself before the voting public. Anything short of this is not acceptable.
