ABC Nwosu’s Exit: Edo PDP Chief Wants Ayu Out

2020 PDP governorship aspirant in Edo State Engr Gideon Ikhine has urged the National Working Committee, NWC of the party to intervene and force Senator Iyorchia Ayu out as chairman following the resignation of one of the party’s foundation members, Prof ABC Nwosu.

GWG.ng had reported the decision of ABC Nwosu to resign from the PDP upon the party’s failure to uphold the rotation of the presidential ticket between the North and South.

Prof ABC Nwosu was one of the foundation leaders of the party who served as political adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo and as a minister in the former president’s cabinet.

Following the resignation of ABC Nwosu on Thursday, January 12, 2023, Ikhine in a memo to the PDP NWC routed through the National Vice-Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih wrote:

Dear Sir,

The Vice Chairman South-south.

I came across the above in the social media space. If it is true that A.B. C. Nwosu has resigned his  membership of PDP,  then the foundation of our party has been rocked by a volcano, whose consequential effect is yet to be seen.

PDP would have lost the membership of a gentleman.

This is a very sad moment for me. If Senator Ayu has any iota of conscience & integrity left in him; this is the moment he should apologize & step down as Chairman of this our great party, PDP.

Sir, we are counting on your NWC to act on time & stem this impending danger steering at us, with stack reality.

Thank you.

Engr. Gideon Ikhine (FNSE)

GWG.ng reports that Ikhine’s memo adds to the calls on Ayu to step down to save the party from breaking.

Speaking after the exit of ABC Nwosu, a PDP source close to Orbih told GWG.ng “Ayu has to take the path of honour except he is determined to lead the party to what seems to be unmitigated disaster in the presidential election given the revulsion to his stance to stick to his position.”
