Emefiele arrest

The Department Of State Services, DSS has denied reports that its agents invaded the office of Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, at the main office of the apex bank.

GWG.ng reports that the DSS and the CBN governor have been at odds over allegations of the financing of terrorism alleged against the apex banker.

Emefiele, who had been on a medical vacation resumed at his duty post on Monday and had previously been the subject of an arrest request by the DSS at an Abuja Federal High Court.

The court, however, denied the request.

GWG.ng reports that supporters of Mr Emefiele have alleged that the actions of the DSS were prompted by the cash withdrawal policy initiated by the CBN which aims to among others stifle vote buying and deepen the use of the cashless system.
