APC Supporters Die In Road Crash At Rally

Two supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State died in a road accident on their way to the party’s campaign rally at Iboko community in Izzi LGA of the state on Wednesday.

According to reports, the supporters were involved in a terrible auto-crash a few kilometers from the venue of the rally.

The accident, which claimed the lives of a man and a woman, also recorded a number of injuries among the APC supporters who were travelling in the same vehicle.

The bus involved in the accident belonged to Onicha South Mass Transit, a local transportation company that had been hired to transport the supporters to the rally.

An eyewitness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to newsmen, said the accident occurred as a result of careless driving by the driver hired to carry the supporters to the rally.

The eyewitness explained,

“One of the drivers was driving carelessly, and unfortunately collided with another car in an attempt to overtake, without minding his life and the passengers’ safety as well.”

The victims of the accident were immediately taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, two persons, a man and a woman, died instantly.

The source stated, “It was a painful experience today, we were all looking forward to the rally and now this tragic accident has occurred. It is a very sad day for all of us.”

The police are yet to release a statement about the accident, and it is unclear if any action will be taken against the driver responsible for the crash.

This tragic accident brought a solemn tone to the APC’s rally, and the party leaders extended their condolences to the families of those who died in the accident and other injured supporters.
