Suspects Dump 19 year Old Rape Victim By Roadside

Four male suspects have been detained in connection with the rape of a member of the sorority at Louisiana State University who was thrown on the side of the road and killed by a passing vehicle after a night of drinking.

The suspects turned themselves in more than a week after 19-year-old Madison Brooks was struck and killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Tuesday, January 23. There of the suspects included Kaivon Deondre Washington, Everett Lee, and Casen Carver.

After allegedly being sexually assaulted by the adolescent males who dropped her on the side of the road, Ms Madison Brooks, a 19-year-old student, was fatally overrun by a passing car.

On Sunday, a fourth suspect, a 17-year-old boy who had not been named due to his age, surrendered. Brooks met the 17-year-old suspect at Reggie’s, a bar close to the LSU campus, where she had been drinking. According to an arrest warrant, she left between one and two in the morning with the teenager and the other three accused.

After allegedly being sexually assaulted by adolescent males who dropped her on the side of the road, a 19-year-old student was fatally struck by a car. According to the arrest report, Carver told authorities that Brooks “was very unstable on her feet, was not able to hold her balance, and was unable to talk coherently without slurring her words.”

Carver claimed that Brooks asked for a lift home and that he saw them “holding and strolling together”  while speaking to the 17-year-old lad. 

“He acknowledged that he agreed to give her a ride because he did not want to leave her while highly  intoxicated and the pub was finishing up.” 

Carver told the investigators that he was the driver, Lee was in the front passenger seat, while Washington, the 17-year-old, and Brooks were in the rear. 

He claimed that when he asked Brooks for her address, she tripped and was unable to respond; as a result, he drove a short distance and pulled over. 

Carver said that he “overheard” his 17-year-old friend asking the victim five times if she wanted to have sex with him to which she replied “yes”

He claimed that after having intercourse with Brooks, the 17-year-old and Washington, Brooks told them, “We’ve got to stop this, let’s go.”

During the police interview, when questioned if he believed the woman to be too intoxicated to consent to intercourse, Carver responded, “I guess.”

Washington was also questioned by the police. He expressed his sorrow over Brooks’ passing but also acknowledged that he had laughed earlier as he walked behind her and wondered, “How y’all meet a random chick and just carry her home?”

Washington claimed that after dropping Brooks off, a rideshare driver hit her on Burbank Drive at around three in the morning. She had a blood alcohol level of 0.319%, which is over four times the legal limit.

Two of the suspects, Lee and Carver were charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree rape, while Washington and the unnamed 17-year-old were charged with third-degree rape.

According to Ron Haley, a lawyer for two of the suspects, this was “certainly not a rape. This is a tragedy, not a crime, remember that. According to him, a video of the incident demonstrates that Brooks was coherent.

Brooks was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and was a native of Covington, Louisiana.

The sorority wrote on Instagram;

Madi was a fun-loving, compassionate, and altruistic friend. We treasure our memories of her and will never forget her since she left a lasting impression on our chapter. Madi donated her heart and kidneys to save others, and she will always be one of our heroes.

We give her family and friends our sincere condolences during this terribly trying time. Additionally, we humbly want time and space so that we can assist one another in our healing processes.
