The All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Committee, PCC was at the weekend engulfed in a credibility crisis after allegations of the deduction of N300,000 couched as ‘handling charges’ from the N2 million disbursed to each of the party’s House of Representatives candidates in the forthcoming General Election.

The funds were reportedly provided by the PCC at the behest of the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Besides the House of Representatives candidates, the party’s candidates for the Senate were also mobilized with N5 million each courtesy of the PCC whose primary goal is to actualize the presidential aspiration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

As part of building synergy, the PCC it was gathered had invited all the National Assembly candidates to Abuja for the financial mobilization on Thursday.

The process which started on Thursday with the mobilization of about 30 Senate candidates was reportedly aborted for yet unknown reasons. However, the process continued to Friday with all Senate candidates mobilized.

When it came to the turn of the House of Representatives contestants they were mobilized with N1.7 million out of the N2 million budgeted for them with the N300,000 deduction being claimed as “handling charges.”

GWG.ng reports that a number of the candidates including some party sources were simply furious over the deduction.

“Besides the deduction one may also ask why invite the candidates to come to Abuja whereas this issue could simply have been transferred to us,” one source privy to the development was heard saying.

The APC House candidates it was gathered, were made to sign for N2 million but actually received N1.7 million with the N300,000 being described as handling charges.

An official of the party and member of the PCCC contacted on the issue did not respond to the issue when contacted by GWG.ng on Sunday by text message. He also did not pick his phone.
