First Lady Aisha Buhari has given credence to claims of a conspiracy against APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu from the seat of power in the Presidential Villa as claimed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Lagos State.

GWG.ng reports that the suspicion about opposition to Tinubu from within the presidential villa has long been speculated since he emerged as presidential candidate of the APC in the June 2022 primaries of the party in Abuja.

However, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, however, gave fillip to the alleged conspiracy against Tinubu in an interview on Channels Television.

He said: “I believe there are elements in the villa want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way; they had their candidate. Their candidate did not win the primaries.

“They are trying to get us to lose the election, and they are hiding behind the president’s desire to do what he thinks is right,” he said.

Responding to the claim, the Federal Government through the minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said that President Muhammadu Buhari was focussed on delivering a free and fair election that will underpin the electoral integrity that he has promised as a legacy.

However, the claim of a conspiracy against Tinubu has been backed by First Lady, Aisha Buhari who took to her Instagram page to share the quote by El-Rufai.

GWG.ng reports that Mrs Buhari is one of the strong pillars behind Tinubu and was said to have played a major role in his emergence as the presidential candidate of the party.

As First Lady she is also believed to be in a position to know that there are some people within the seat of power determined to stop Tinubu from winning. However, whether her husband is one of those is much left to speculation.
