The Sokoto State All Progressives Council, APC Campaign Council has reemphasized it’s commitment to embarking on an electioneering campaign without violence despite intense provocation from  the ruling People’s Democratic Party in the state.

Speaking to newsmen after a Campaign Council meeting on thursday evening , the State Leader of the All Progressives Congress and former Governor of the State Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako rejected any kind of insinuation or allegations to the effect that the All Progressives Congress as a party was responsible for the increased repeated violent clashes and counter-clashes during political campaigns in the last one month within the state.

He spoke after a caucus meeting held on the outcome of a briefing by the heads of security agencies with political parties in the state attended by State All Progressives Congress Chairman Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida.

It will be recalled that violent clashes have become a regular occurrence within the state recently to the extent that Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar only a few days ago also called on politicians to carry out their campaigns in a peaceful and violence-free environment.

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako who is also the All Progressives Congress Senatorial candidate for Sokoto South Senatorial zone reassured party faithfuls , residents and the general public of the party’s resolve to commit itself to a very peaceful electioneering campaign. He called on the People’s Democratic Party to endeavor to disarm it’s youth wing and educate them on the need for peace and tranquility as we approach the general elections.

“The All Progressives Congress as a party is made up of decent and peace loving citizens and we encourage all residents of Sokoto to abhor violence and embrace peace during this period and in future” Wammako said in insisting that violence was not an option for the members of the APC.

The caucus meeting was attended by the Director General of the All Progressives Congress Campaign and Minister of Police Affairs Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi and other party bigwigs.
