TINUBU: El-Rufai Drags Lai Mohammed As Storm On Cabal’s Role In Poll Deepens

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has elaborated on his assertion of a conspiracy against the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming election saying that specific persons in the Aso Rock Villa known to Alhaji Lai Mohammed are involved in the plot that goes beyond Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

GWG.ng reports that El-Rufai’s assertion follows controversies earlier thrown up by the Kaduna governor of a plot allegedly aimed at stopping the emergence of Tinubu as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

Following his claims made in a series of interviews in the last few days, the Federal Government through Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information debunked the claim of a conspiracy.

Following up on his claim, El-Rufai in an interview on Thursday night on Arise News Television insisted on his claim saying that the plot was beyond stopping Tinubu and was directed against the APC. According to him Alhaji Lai Mohammed knows the persons involved.

He said:

“What I said was that we are convinced that there are some elements in the Villa that want APC to lose the elections. I did not say the Federal Government.

“I did not say Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. I said APC. Alright, I don’t understand why the Federal Government is responding to what I said because the Federal Government is not part of it and I referred to elements in the Villa and I know who I am referring to and those that are in the Villa know who I am referring to.

“And with the greatest respect, even my brother, Lai Mohammed know who I am referring to and I think it is inappropriate for him as minister of information of Nigeria to respond to a statement that specifically refers to individuals rather than insittutions. If I had said that the villa is against us, then I would have expected Garba Shehu or Adesina my two brothers to respond to me.

“If I said that the Federal Government was frustrating the APC then I would expect Lai Mohammed to respond. Why he responded to that, I don’t phantom frankly.

“I still stand by my words that there appears to be very strong evidence of a conspiracy to incite voters against the APC in the forthcoming elections by coming out with ad-hoc decisions and policies that are not well thought out and have not received widespread consultation and to incite the voters to fight against the APC,” El-Rufai said in asserting the fact that Lai Mohammed knew the persons in Aso Rock involved in the plot against Tinubu and the APC.
