Tinubu Storms Wike's Rivers On Two-Day Official Visit

The rumoured political marriage between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Nyesom Wike came to fore on Friday as the two men came together to mock Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu over his verbal slip in Kano about the PDP bringing shame to the country.

GWG.ng reports that Ayu had at the Kano rally of the PDP said that “PDP has brought us shame and we will not retain them in power.”

The slip of the tongue by Ayu drew the attention of the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu and former PDP presidential aspirant, Wike who is also the governor of Rivers State.

Wike has been at war with Ayu over his refusal to resign following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate.

Reacting to the verbal slip, Tinubu in a statement issued by his director of media, Bayo Onanuga said:

“Ayu’s viral statement that “PDP has brought us shame and we will not retain them in power”, concurs with the general verdict that the party failed the country and its people and should never be given a chance to return to power.

“In our view, Iyorchia Ayu did not suffer slip of the tongue. He was only reflecting an inner guilt about the grave damage his party inflicted on our country for 16 years.

“In the coming elections, Nigerians should never make the error of allowing this discredited party smell the scent of power. Iyorchia’s PDP has not learnt any lesson and has not changed its behaviour. The Nigerian voters should simply consign it to the dustbin of history, while keeping faith with the APC, which offers Renewed Hope.”

Also reacting, Wike said if there is any section of PDP that has brought shame, full of lies and is bad, it is the national headquarters under their leadership not the PDP in Rivers State because that one is good.

Speaking at the campaign flag-off rally organised by the Rivers State PDP Campaign Council for Eleme Local Government Area that held at the Community Secondary School Field, Alode Town, Eleme on Friday he said that Dr. Ayu spoke out of the abundance of his heart.

According to him even though he  may want to defend it as a slip, and it goes to confirm that as an undertaker, his likes came back to kill the PDP. But they will not be allowed to kill it, he emphasised.

“When you see undertakers, you will see those who came to kill this party. But the party will not die, they will die first. I didn’t know they are wicked to this party, no wonder they left this party and joined ACN before.

“He (Ayu) said they will not allow PDP to be in power. Is that a good chairman? It that not anti-party? Is the chairman not doing anti-party. Out of the abundance of the heart the month speaks. For us in Rivers State, our own party is a good party. Our own is a party that has done Rivers State well.”

GWG.ng reports that the decision of Wike to mock Ayu, the PDP national chairman is not the only situation where he would go together with Tinubu against the position of his party.

At the occasion on Friday he also expressed opposition against the naira redesign policy of the CBN describing those supporting what he described as the poorly implemented naira redesign policy as enemies of the people and the country.

Governor Wike wondered why the national leadership of the PDP that  is in opposition, and should always side with the people in the quest to return to power at the federal government level, will support the anti-people policy.

He reiterated that the PDP in Rivers State will always side with the Nigeria masses because it cannot identify and support policy that has been implemented to aggravate the suffering of the people.

“This is supposed to be an opposition party, is it not? A party that is supposed to identify with the masses. This is a party that is saying the ruling party is not doing well. It is not? it means that anything that effect the masses we must be in support of the masses. Are you happy that you have money in the bank and you can’t get your money. Will you be happy? Are you happy?

Tinubu has also been in the frontline against the naira redesign policy putting him together with Wike in opposing the policy of the government formed by his party.
