The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been thrown into a suspense following reports of the replacement of its governorship candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, with a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Michael Enyong (aka) Baba Ntan in the upcoming governorship election.

Eno’s name was replaced on the INEC website with that of Enyong following a court order.
The news of the replacement has caused consternation among PDP members and supporters who were taken aback by the court moves initiated by Ntan.

GWG.ng reports that Ntan had emerged at a parallel primary allegedly conducted in Ewet Housing Estate in Uyo on the same day that the mainstream of the party conducted its primary at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo.

It was gathered that some statutory delegates were present at the Ewet Housing Estate to throw up Ntan while Pastor Eno emerged at the primary that was conducted with ad-hoc delegates at the stadium.

Ntan had consequently gone to court to challenge the submission of Eno’s name by the PDP to INEC. Though the court granted his request, the PDP has, however, challenged the case in the Court of Appeal which heard the case last Friday and adjourned for judgment.

The PDP is said to have opposed the High Court judgment on the claim that the judgment was obtained by fraud and the case was filed out of time.

Meanwhile, suspense has enveloped the PDP in Akwa Ibom over the candidate of the party as many are shocked over the case given that many were fixated on the case filed by Akan Okon, a former commissioner in the state who emerged second in the primary at the Nest of Champions.
