Atiku Adopts ‘Jehovah Witness’ Strategy Against G5 Governors
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has adopted what senior aides are calling the Jehovah Witness strategy to overcome the opposition to his aspiration by the G5 governors.
GWG.ng reports that the approach emerged following the open declaration by Governor Samuel Ortom for the rival Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Reacting to the decision of the Benue State governor who belongs to the PDP to adopt Obi in the presidential election against his party’s candidate, a source embedded in the top hierarchy of the Atiku campaign told GWG.ng:
“You see for someone like Ortom we have decided to ignore him because after all, how many votes can he get to us? We have bypassed him to reach directly to the people and that is what we call the Jehovah Witness approach,” the top Atiku campaign official said.
“We are going beyond the Jackson 5 and that is why you saw that in Benue, for example that Atiku went with helicopter first to Otukpo met with the monarch and the people, then went to Gboko saw the monarch before going to address the rally at Makurdi.”
“This election is going to be won from direct interface with the people and the Jackson 5 have become irrelevant having boxed themselves into a cul de sac.”
Noting the success of the Jehovah Witness strategy, the aide inferred that Atiku would after what he envisaged as their success in the presidential election be in a good position to influence the governorship election in the states. He said that the campaign had picked on three of the five governors among the Jackson 5 to serve a retribution.
