I Was Celebrated, Not Booed At Agbor, Nwoko Says
PDP Senatorial candidate for Delta North, Hon Ned Nwoko on Wednesday denied viral news reports of being booed during a campaign activity at the University of Delta, Agbor, saying that on the contrary that he was received with applause.
The assertion by Nwoko came in the wake of news reports that he was drowned out by supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi who chorused the name of their candidate as Nwoko spoke.
According to the reports, Nwoko who had his wife, actress Regina Daniels and the daughter of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Marilyn who is also a candidate for Ika North East State Constituency in his entourage, were forced to make a hasty retreat.
However, countering the reports, the Media directorate of Ned Nwoko campaign council said that contrary to the reports of being booed, that the delegation was well received by the students.
A statement by the media director, Ned Nwoko senatorial campaign council, Comrade Norbert Chiazor said:
“The students were neither hostile nor unfriendly to the duo during the visit. Mischief makers sponsored by failed political detractors envious and jittery of Ned Nwoko’s popularity and goodwill across Delta North concocted the fake news,to misinform and hoodwink. It was a cheap and weak propaganda
“The truth is that when Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko and his Nollywood celebrity wife Regina visited the university of Delta, Agbor on Tuesday February, 21, 2023, the students who gathered in their thousands, were so excited to see the famous couple.
“While Nwoko was addressing the happy students, flanked by Regina, the youngsters were repeatedly chanting “PDP, PDP” as the Senatorial candidate reeled out the achievements of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and PDP Vice Presidential flag bearer, who recently established the institution ,as one of his remarkable legacies.
” The video of the students freely cheering Ned Nwoko and Regina, in a mammoth celebration is in the public domain. We therefore urge members of the public to discountenance the fake report of non-existent cold shoulder by the Agbor university students.
“Infact, it bears emphasis to state that Nwoko and Regina were accorded tumultuous reception at Agbor, like earlier successful tours of Delta state polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Dennis Osadebay university, Anwai,Asaba as well as Federal College of Education, Asaba, where the various students of the institutions excitedly engaged them in spontaneous embraces and selfies.
“The visits had been a memorable carnival in all the schools and Ned Nwoko and wife, Regina are appreciative, as they look forward to the landslide victory of PDP in the Saturday February ,25 polls” the Nwoko campaign said in its response to the reports of being booed at the university at Agbor.
