Candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo state, Albert Agulann has had his name struck off the list of contenders for the House of Representatives in the February 25 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Agulanna is the expelled PDP candidate running to represent the state’s Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal congressional district.

His name was withdrawn in response to an Appeal Court order from January.

Checks on the INEC website on Wednesday revealed that no names were listed as candidates for the party.

“Court order” was added by the electoral commission to the list of justifications for the withdrawal.

Recall that Agulanna, the PDP candidate for the state’s federal constituency, was fired by the Federal High Court in Abuja in January.

The court, in its ruling, also ordered that a fresh primary be held in the constituency within 14 days.

However, the Appeal Court in Owerri barred the INEC and the PDP from going on to conduct a rerun primary election of the PDP for the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency of the state.

Recall that the INEC had said it did not monitor the re-run primaries of the PDP in the federal constituency of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of INEC in the state, Dr Chinenye Osuji, disclosed the absence of the commission last Monday, while addressing journalists in Owerri.
