Opposition political parties including the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, LP have demanded the cancellation of the election process alleging that the poll had been undermined following the infiltration of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC supposedly by agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The call for the cancellation of the election process came after the opposition parties staged a walk-out from the National Collation Centre after their call for the interrogation of the results submitted by the State returning officers was rejected by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman.

GWG.ng reports that on resumption for the ongoing collation that the opposition parties had expressed concern that INEC failed to use the BVAS machine to upload the results as promised and called on Yakubu to address the issues at the state levels.

Senator Dino Melaye, the PDP agent said that Yakubu vowed that the BVAS would be used at least 80 times while the Information commissioner made the same promise more than 110 times.

However, the APC agent at the centre rejected the demand and asked that opposition parties dissatisfied with the process should go to court.

Following the rejection of their demands the opposition parties walked out of the collation centre.

Addressing newsmen outside the centre, Senator Melaye said the opposition parties were demanding a cancellation of the election process on the claim that the APC had compromised the process in collaboration with INEC officials.
GWG.ng reports that Yakubu meanwhile is going ahead with the collation with the APC agents and a few other parties seated.
