Governor Godwin Obaseki’s vow to deliver Edo State to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the presidential and National Assembly elections received a crushing blow at the weekend after the governor lost at all levels in the polls.

GWG.ng reports that the leader of the party in the state lost his polling unit, ward, local government and senatorial district to Labour Party at the election.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has lost his polling unit, ward, local government and senatorial district to the Labour Party (LP) in the presidential and National Assembly elections held in the state.

According to the results of the Edo South Senatorial District declared by the district returning officer, Prof. A. Obasuyi, the LP candidate Neda Imasuen won the Senatorial seat with 167,250 votes.

Imasuen defeated the All Progressives Party (APC) candidate and that of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 57,933 and 61,749 votes respectively.

GWG.ng reports that Imasuen was until recently a top aide of the incumbent senator, Senator Matthew Urghoghide. It is claimed in some circles that the incumbent senator had drafted his former aide to stand in as a place holder for him in Labour Party but that he did not follow up with the plans.

Also in the Oredo federal constituency of the governor, the LP candidate, Mr. Iyawe Eseosa, won the constituency seat.

Governor Obaseki, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had during elections in Delta State, promised to deliver Edo State votes for the PDP.
