Obi, Atiku & Tinubu call

The Bola Tinubu Campaign on Tuesday dismissed the calls for the cancellation of the presidential election as it enjoined Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to follow what it called the exemplary behaviour of President Goodluck Jonathan in calling Tinubu to concede defeat.

Speaking through his media men following the call by the APC and PDP leaders for the cancellation of the election, the Tinubu media team said that the election process cannot be called off as doing so would amount to aborting a pregnancy at full term.

Affirming that Tinubu was on the rollercoaster to victory, the Tinubu team comprising Dele Alake, special adviser on communication to Tinubu, Festus Keyamo, official spokesperson; Abike Dabiri, Femi Fani-Kayode, Prince Kassim Afegbua among others dismissed the call of the PDP, Labour Party and ADC leaders for the cancellation saying that the constitutional process should be allowed to run its course.

The Tinubu media team also played an old tape of President Olusegun Obasanjo saying that there could be no perfect election to support its claim that the occurrences of malpractise in some locations was not sufficient to truncate the election.

Calling on Atiku and Obi to follow the path of President Jonathan, Alake speaking on behalf of the Tinubu Team said:

“President Jonathan did not wait for INEC to finish collation before he called General Buhari and congratulated him in the true spirit of democracy and sportsmanship.

“We urge Atiku Abubakar and Obi to follow the same path of honour instead of attempting to heat up the polity by the reckless statements of their surrogates

“Let Atiku and Obi do the decent thing and save Nigeria from agony by calling Tinubu now and conceding defeat.”

Continuing, the Tinubu spokesman said that those who cannot absorb the shock of defeat cannot enjoy the joy of victory in asking Atiku and Obi to make the call to concede defeat.
