Five Ways To Handle A Sharp Tongued Child

Some children are sharp tongued and even speak rudely to their seniors or elderly ones. Many parents are obsessed with the situation. Here are five ways you can handle a sharp tongued child in the home.

Lead by example

We need to be deliberate in the way we act before our children because the things they hear us say have a powerful influence on them. Parents should, in addition, talk about respectful words and actions. Set specific rules for how family members are to speak to one another.

Monitor the way they talk

A parent should guide their children when they say a rude thing or talk nastily to their mates or elderly people.   But the bad thing these days is that you see such children going viral on social media. So, rather than correct them when they see such wrong things, people record their actions and post them on social media for them to trend.

Don’t hesitate to correct them

Just as they are sharp tongued, parents should not waste time in correcting anything they utter abusive words. If beating can help in teaching them to speak respectfully,  parents should  adopt such an approach.

Set boundaries

When you set a boundary for your child, let the child realize the consequences of going beyond the boundary and don’t fail to apply the big stick when it happens.  A child will not take you seriously  when you say a thing and fail to carry it out.

Watch what you say

You must watch what you say in the presence of your children. If the father and mother always speak rudely to each other, there is always a possibility that the child will speak rudely to their mates including adults.
