Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has penned an open letter to Thaddeus Attah Achief, the winner of the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

Attah, the Labour Party Candidate won with 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Mr Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,666 votes, and Mr Babjide Obanikoro of the APC, who had 16, 901 votes.

In the letter, Deyemi congratulated Thaddeus for winning the seat but expressed his concerns about the electoral process that led to his victory.

Deyemi revealed that he voted for the PDP candidate and singer, Bankole Wellington (Banky W), as he believed that he was the best candidate for the job.

He further stated that he had faith in the people’s discernment to elect the right candidate, but he was worried about the role that tribal sentiments, cyberbullying, and herd mentality played in the electoral process.

Deyemi Okanlawon acknowledged that like many Lagosians, he had only heard of Thaddeus after he was announced as the winner.

He expressed his surprise that he couldn’t find any indications of Thaddeus’ campaign or manifesto online, despite the fact that he had overthrown an incumbent and a public figure.

Deyemi also revealed that he had made a significant effort to find out more about Thaddeus’ qualifications, past precedents, and plans for the people of Eti-Osa, but to no avail.

As a result, Deyemi extended an invitation to Thaddeus to join him online for a live Instagram conversation to address concerns and respond to questions that many others like him may have.

He urged all well-meaning and progressive Lagosians to find their own individual voice ahead of the March 11 elections and ensure that the person they are voting for reflects their collective desire for great leadership and excellent governance.
