Roberto Firmino has announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season on a free transfer when his contract expires, and has informed Jurgen Klopp of his plans.

The Brazilian has fallen out of favour in recent years for Liverpool after the arrival of several attacking options such as Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez. He was linked with a move away from the Reds at the start of the season, but was lured to remain at the club by Klopp who said he was part of his plans. Firmino has seen little or no game time at all in the last two seasons and has suffered a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, this however has influenced his decision to depart Anfield after 8 years.

Signed from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for £29 million, Bobby Firmino as he is fondly called by Liverpool fans scored 107 goals and provided 71 assists in 353 appearances. He also won the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, Super Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup. The 31-year-old leaves the red part of Merseyside a legend as he looks to pursue a new challenge.

The move by Firmino to leave Liverpool is coming in the wake of the struggles by the team.
