Senate, Reps Postpone Resumption Over Governorship Polls

The Senate has rescheduled its plenary meeting for Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

The Red Chamber deferred plenary to Tuesday, March 14, 2023, due to the governorship elections.

Ahmad Lawan, Senate President on Monday moved the plenary to March 14 to allow senators running for governorships to participate in campaigning and voting.

He said, “We have to adjoin for all of us to participate in the campaigns and elections of the governors and states assembly members.”

However, a copy of a memo signed by the Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, announced a new postponement of the plenary.

A copy of the memo sighted on Monday stated, “This is to inform all Distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the Senate in Plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday, March 14, 2023 to Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

“All distinguished senators are by this notice requested to resume sitting in plenary on Tuesday March 21, 2023 by 10am prompt, please.”
