Court Remands Father For Raping 18yrOld Daughter In Shop.

An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos State, has remanded a 36-year-old man named Roland Okajere for allegedly raping his 18-year-old daughter inside his shop in the state’s Ikotun neighborhood. Okajere was accused of committing the offense on January 4, 2023, and was charged with it on Monday, March 13.
The charge stated;
“That you, Roland Okajere, on January 4, 2023, at your shop at Ikotun Bus Stop, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did rape your daughter, 18, by having sexual intercourse with her without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
Inspector Esther Igbineweka, a police prosecutor, informed the court that the crime was punishable under Section 260 of the Lagos State Criminal Code of 2015.
The defendant’s plea was not accepted by the magistrate, Mr. L. A. Owolabi. He commanded that the prisoner be held in custody for 30 days while he awaited the Director of Public Prosecutions’ recommendation. The matter was continued for hearing until April 12, 2023.
