Labour Party governorship candidate in Delta State, Deacon Ken Pela has said that he is the compromise candidate for aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP against the governor’s choice of Sheriff Oborevwori who do not see Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC as an acceptable alternative.

Pela who spoke in an interview spoke against the background of mutterings in the PDP in Delta State over the alleged imposition of Oborevwori by the outgoing governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as his successor.

GWG.ng reports that a number of the disaffected members of the PDP had already pitched tent with Omo-Agege while a number of them have stayed back.

Pela also alluded to the fact that a number of APC chiefs who were peeved by the dominance of Senator Omo-Agege in the APC and do not see any hope in the PDP are also working with him. He spoke in reference to associates of Olorogun Festus Keyamo who a year ago dubbed the APC structure as presently constituted as made up of Omo-Agege’s house boys and house girls.

Pela who spoke in an interview on Arise News TV said that the state had over the years slipped in progressive government noting that the best that the state had gotten so far was under Chief James Ibori saying that governance had over time slipped down the hill.

“I am seen in most circles as a compromise candidate. There are several people in the APC who do not want to work with the current DSP (Senator Ovie Omo-Agege) as the candidate of their party.”

“So, I believe that I stand very well placed as a compromise candidate for those in the PDP who do not want to work with the current governorship candidate and those in the APC who do not want to work with the current governorship candidate. We are already working together.”
