Ahead of the forthcoming House of Assembly Election slated for 18th March, 2023, four political parties have endorsed the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Edo State House of Assembly Election.

The parties include the National Rescue Movement (NRM), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Action Alliance (AA), and African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Addressing newsmen during a press briefing in Benin City, the Spokesperson of the delegation and Edo State Chairman of NRM, Hon. Sam Arase, who spoke on behalf of the political parties, stated that they decided to support the candidates of the PDP in view of the developmental projects executed by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in the State.

He noted that residents of the State can now sleep with their two eyes closed, owing to the security architecture put in place by the State Government.

He added that Governor Obaseki’s leadership drive has brought about infrastructural development and economic empowerment for the youths. He maintained that employment into the Civil/Public Service of the State is now based on merit and that salaries of workers and pensions are paid promptly.

Hon. Arase, therefore, called on all their supporters across the State to come out en masse to cast their votes for all the PDP candidates contesting for the Edo State House of Assembly seats, as well as the PDP Candidate for Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives Election that has been rescheduled, he said in relaying that the four parites had endorsed candidates of the PDP in the Edo State House of Assembly.

Acknowledging the support of the political parties, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, appreciated the leaders for identifying with the PDP, stating that with such collective efforts, victory is sure for the candidates of the PDP, whom he described as the best for legislative business in the State.

He said, “On behalf of the Edo State Government and the good people of Edo State, I would like to thank you for this endorsement. It is not just an endorsement, but for the fact that you have recognized, and by yourself highlighted the good work His Excellency has been doing for the State in the last six years.”

Nehikhare further said, “We are a very happy party. The Government has done everything possible to make sure Edo people are first all the time, and when it comes from non-state actors like you, to come and tell us why you are endorsing our candidates and listing to us that which we have done, we assure you that we will do more.”

While responding to the alleged call by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Edo people to vote for its candidates, Mr. Nehikhare stated that the APC should not be trusted again as their members-elect failed to avail themselves for inauguration after the previous house of assembly election, thereby failing to represent their constituents.

The Commissioner called on Edo voters to make positive impact by voting for the PDP candidates to sustain and promote more development in the State.
