Until Your Car Spoils On The Road, You’ll Never Value Agberos – Etinosa Idemudia
Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia has called for the rehabilitation of touts, popularly known as Agberos, stating that some of them possess skills that could be harnessed for the greater good.
In a post shared on her Instastories, the actress highlighted the often-overlooked skills possessed by some Agberos, adding that they can be useful in certain situations.
According to Etinosa, until a person’s car develops a fault on the road, they may never appreciate the value of Agberos, as some of them possess the necessary skills to help in such a situation.
The actress further called on the government to provide rehabilitation programs for Agberos who may have veered off the path of righteousness, adding that some of them could be reformed and put to better use.
“I feel rehabilitation is very much possible by a willing government, but some governments will rather use them as thugs,” she wrote in her post, without calling out any specific government.
Etinosa’s call for the rehabilitation of Agberos comes amidst growing concerns over their activities in some parts of Nigeria. Agberos, who are mostly youths, are known for their unruly behavior, particularly in the transport sector, where they collect illegal fees from drivers and passengers.
Their activities often lead to altercations with drivers and other road users, and have been known to escalate into violence.
The issue of Agberos has been a thorny one for successive governments in Nigeria, with many struggling to find a lasting solution to their menace.
