A magistrate court in Gidan Murtala, Kano State, has ordered the death of a male chicken for allegedly creating a disturbance in the neighborhood. GWG.ng reports that the male chicken, a Cockerel is to be executed by Friday failing which the court would impose a fine on the owner.

According to information obtained by Naija News, a neighbor named Yusuf Muhammad Ja’en complained to the court that Isyaku Shu’aibu’s chicken kept the neighborhood from getting the rest they deserved and was a constant disturbance.

Ja’en claimed that the Cockerel’s excessive crowing kept them from finding any peace.

Yusuf was given till Friday to kill the cockerel by the magistrate, Halima Wali, after hearing arguments from both sides on Tuesday during a hearing.

Shu’aibu reportedly informed the court that he had purchased the bird to celebrate Good Friday and begged for permission to keep it till the Christian holiday before killing it for his family feast.

While taking into consideration his plea, Judge Wali cautioned him against letting the birds to wander free and annoy residents.

The Kano magistrate also urged him to ensure the death of the chicken on Friday as agreed upon, failing to do so the court will impose a fine.
