JUST IN: APC Wins Yobe South Senatorial Poll With 711 Votes

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ibrahim Bomai has been declared the winner of the Yobe South Senatorial District election.

The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abatcha Melemi, explained that Bomai polled 69,596 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Halilu Mazagane of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 68,885 votes.

Melemi stated this on Saturday while announcing the result at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum.

Declaring the results at the collation center,FCE T Potiskum, the INEC Returning Officer, Abacha Meleni stated that “I Abacha Meleni Returning Officer for the 2023 Yobe South Senatorial District Election, election held on 15th of April, 2023, that Bomai Ibrahim Mohammed of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby decalred winner and is returned elected “.

In his acceptance speech, the winner of the Yobe south senatorial district, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai thanked the elwctorates and supporters for the resilience and love. He extended hands of fellowship to the people of the area to cooperate in moving the senatorial district forward.

GWG.ng recalls that INEC had earlier declared the election in Yobe South inconclusive resulting from overvoting at Manawachi polling unit in the Fika Local Government Area of the state.

Supplementary elections were subsequently held at the affected polling units on Saturday and the winner declared.

The Returning Officer, who could not entertain questions, told journalists that his mandate was just to declare the winner.
