Prominent Itsekiri chief and businessman, Chief Ayiri Emami was at the weekend in the cold as outstanding personalities in the kingdom gravitated towards Chief Oma Eyewuoma, his replacement as Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom.

GWG.ng had earlier reported that Ayiri who had opposed the emergence of the former Prince Tsola Emiko as Olu of Warri eventually paid homage to the new monarch, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III on Sunday. The homage before the throne was supposed to bring to an end the long running beef between monarch and chief.

Ayiri who removed himself from revalidation in 2021 when the new monarch scrutinized and reappointed his chiefs was eventually stripped of his prestigious title of Ologbotsere.

GWG.ng gathered that at the reconciliation on Sunday that the Olu in a gesture offered Ayiri the title of – formerly held by his father.

Ayiri according to sources was said to have rebuffed the offer and stormed out of the palace, though some sources out of courtesy to His Majesty said that he walked out.

The Ologbotsere title was eventually bestowed on Chief Oma Eyewuoma who was prior to that the Aboludero of Warri kingdom.

GWG.ng reports that though Ayiri left the palace unceremoniously after he was rejected as Ologbotsere, that his action did not as much gain the favour of majority of the Itsekiri populace who have been rejoicing since Chief Eyewuoma was named Ologbotsere.

Among those who have congratulated the new Ologbotsere is the immediate past governor of Delta State and prominent Itsekiri native, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.

The picture of Dr Uduaghan congratulating Eyewuoma has circulated among prominent Itsekiri and been applauded. Remarkably, Uduaghan and Ayiri were close political associates and were in the All Progressives Congress, APC at the same time before the former governor retraced his steps to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Other APC chieftains have also been seen in pictures expressing solidarity with Eyewuoma, the new Ologbotsere. Among them also was Hon Temi Harriman, the director social and humanitarian directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, South-South.

Itsekiri chiefs including Chief Oti Adams, Chief Francis Omatseye, Chief Omolubi among others spotted in the residence of the new Ologbotsere.

Remarkably, Ayiri has now said that he was tricked into coming to the palace and that the beads and sword which are insignia of the Ologbotsere that he submitted were fakes.

However, it is now believed that with the emergence of Chief Eyewuoma as Ologbotsere, many Itsekiri who had in the past been dissatisfied with the palace over the Ologbotsere title bestowed on Ayiri may now unbend.

Eyewuoma was a former top official in Conoil and left the company as number three man, a position of ranking that would of course be seen with pleasure by the highly sophisticated Itsekiri people.
