Nigerians have expressed diverse opinions on the decision of the incoming administration of Abba Yusuf to review the dethronement of the 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi and creation of more emirates.

Suspense In Kano As Kwankwaso Says New Gov Will Review Sanusi’s Dethronement

The proposed review of Sanusi’s dethronement was revealed by the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso on Saturday.

Recall that Sanusi, who became emir in the final term of Kwankwaso as governor, was dethroned by outgoing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Sanusi was removed on March 9, 2020, and also banished from Kano and sent to Loko, a remote community in Nasarawa State, while the expenses of the emirate under him were probed.

Ganduje had also split the emirate into five and appointed emirs who were at par.

But, Kwankwao, in the viral video, said the dethronement and balkanisation of the Kano emirate would be reviewed by Yusuf.

Nigerians have since taken to social media to express their opinions on the development. See reactions below:

Ganduje dethroned SLS and we couldn't do anything. Our love for SLS didn't help with anything.

It’s clear Kwankwaso contested for the 3rd term to bring chaos and destroy the culture of kano state in the name of fighting Ganduje. I’m surprised by how an intelligent person like Sanusi lamido sanusi is going to allow someone like Kwankwaso to use him, we all know APC are

It was obvious the former Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido crossed the boundaries by being loud and criticizing Gov. Ganduje openly while in power. No governor can take this, the title of the traditional ruling can't sit well with activism.

Ganduje has really created a lot of mess in Kano, dethroning SLS was the dumbest thing he could ever do as a governor, it is an insult to the great Kingdom of Kano, but Kwankwaso and Abba gida gida need to understand that Kano people need a working govt not a vengeful govt.

Unjustifiably dethroned by Ganduje without giving a fair hearing. No court of law supervised that show of shame. It was one-way decision that appeased the pple whose integrity are as worthless as degrees from Cotonou.

Ganduje made it clear that he dethroned Sanusi just because "he talks too much". And I believe all that Sanusi was saying is true. So he was unjustly dethroned. I see no problem in bringing Sanusi back to the Emirate though I don't support that, but for justice to be served.
