Elumelu Mum As Tweeps Question Otedola’s Flips In Billionaires’ War

Published

on

Tony Elumelu, the billionaire behind the new UBA, Heirs Holdings was on Tuesday commissioning a new fast power plant in Afam, Rivers State as his friend and fellow billionaire, Femi Otedola hit him with a powerful statement accusing him of stabbing him in the back serially in a number of deals.

Otedola who recently bought into the transnational corporation, Transcorp and quickly sold out within weeks accused Elumelu of backstabbing him in deals at UBA, Transcorp, Ughelli and at African Finance Corporation, AFC.

The accusation came despite what many had believed was the close relationship between the two billionaires.

GWG.ng reports that Elumelu follows only two persons on Instagram, Femi Otedola and his wife, Dr Awele Elumelu.

Interestingly, either because of his engagement in Afam or for some other reasons, Elumelu was yet to respond to the development on Tuesday.

Calls made to his spokesmen did not get a response either.

However, many in Twitter space were taking position on the fight between the billionaire friends with many questioning the wisdom of Otedola allowing himself to fall more than three times into the same trap as alleged.

While some also questioned the wisdom of Otedola giving out what should be business ideas, others questioned why he waited until now to hit back asking why he waited many years to raise the issues.

In my opinion, Otedola would have left out the past about UBA, AFC and Ughelli in his address. My my opinion, Tony Elumelu shouldn’t send out any reply to that article. An emboldened and vengeful circle of businessmen will spit secrets that won’t do anyone well.

I think it’s best to wait for Tony’s statement but if this is true then by all means this is Tony’s fault.

Why i find it had to believe is why did he tell Tony about the Ughelli plant even though Tony had betrayed him in the past? It doesn’t make sense.

Femi otedola’s mistake was telling Tony Elumelu about his plans to aquire the ughelli power plant knowing fully well that Tony was also an investor & a business man who could be a potential threat to his business wise.

Otedola accuses Tony Elumelu of backstabbing him in a series of ruthless takeovers of his shares in UBA, Transcorp, Ughelli Power, and AFC. I’ll wait till Tony reacts, but I need these billionaires to keep talking. We all can learn a thing or two. NOLLYWOOD, be on standby pls.

Dr. A. TuruMbe @NDrAgwoTurumbe

Otedolas pity party is ridiculous. It smacks of someone who wants things handed to him. Tony outbid him for the power plant. How is that stabbing him in the back? He didn’t want to sell the shares to pay his debts but declared bankruptcy. And the $20m, was that a giveaway?

Promise Ferdinand @african_duke

If he didn’t tell him about the ughelli plant he wouldn’t have any idea about it, the way I see these things Otedola sees Tony as a good friend he can confined on but it turns out he’s not a good friend, make them fight their fight jor, them join people wen dey do us

What Ote$ explained is just normal business. He went bankrupt, what was TO supposed to do do? Write of his loans in UBA? The sale of Ughelli power plant was publicly advertised, TO outbidded him, what’s wrong in that? It’s a normal business world….

David okosun @davidokosun

While Tony did what a business man would do in most part of the story, he erred when he decided to pursue the business that Otedola had disclosed his interest in confidence. That Betrays the trust. He went after ughelli after Ote told him he just met with the investors.
