Revealed! How Wizkid Inspired Davido To Pursue Music
In a recent interview, renowned Afrobeats singer Davido shared how his fellow artist Wizkid served as an inspiration for his own musical journey.
According to Davido, while residing in the United States, he observed aspiring artists like Wizkid striving to make their mark in the Nigerian music industry.
Witnessing their efforts and determination motivated him to pursue a career as a singer.
At that time, the prominent figures in Nigerian music were acts like Psquare, D’banj, and 2Baba.
However, Wizkid’s emergence onto the scene caught Davido’s attention and piqued his interest in the Nigerian music industry.
In his words; “I remember being in the club then like the biggest artistes were like Psquare, D’banj, even then Wizkid was like young, really young because I remember like he was just coming up in the game, so the game was coming up.
And I remember that moment I was like I want to do Nigerian music I want to get on this early, like I can really tell like is going to be big.”
Undoubtedly, despite the industrial rivalry between Wizkid and Davido over the years, the two artists are one of the biggest things to happen to the Afrobeats as they have taken the music genre to a global level thereby putting the country’s name on the world map.
