The suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, will on July 13 know his fate over his continued detention in the custody of the Directorate of State Services (DSS), an Abuja High Court disclosed on Tuesday.

GWG.ng reports that a Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court set the date to determine the request filed by Emefiele’s lawyers for his freedom from the custody of the DSS.

It would be recalled that Emefiele was penultimate weekend suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu and immediately put under incarceration by the DSS.

He had since then been out of public glare with various accounts being given of his time in the custody of the DSS.

While the secret police claimed that he is being given access to his family and lawyers, others have alleged that he has been incommunicado.

He has, however, approached a high Court of the Federal Capital Territory, through his lawyer, Chief Joesph Daudu, SAN, to secure an order to allow him access to his family members and lawyers, which the court granted last week.

The DSS claims that he had been given the access even before the court action.

Meanwhile, the court on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 after listening to Counsels in the matter on Tuesday, the Court fixed July 13 for ruling on the request by Emefiele to be set free from the detention of the DSS.
