Mmesoma apologise

Romanus Ejikeme, the father of Mmesoma Ejikeme, the candidate accused of faking the United Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME result has apologised to Nigerians and the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB.

Mr Ejikeme lamented that his daughter lied to him and Nigerians about her JAMB scores.

Speaking with NTA, Ejikeme said Mmesoma did not tell him the truth early enough.

According to Ejikeme, he blamed Mmesoma when he realized the truth.

He said: “My daughter did not open up to me on time; when I realised her mistake, I blamed her.

“I told her, Mmesoma, be careful; you know you are a star and will not dent your image.

“But I am still apologising to JAMB and Nigerians as a father to pardon her.”

GWG.ng reports that Mmesoma Ejikeme had raised a national controversy after she paraded a forged Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, result that credited her with 362 marks, well above the 249 marks that JAMB credited her with.

JAMB, had, however, dismissed her claims citing what it said were many loopholes in her narration. The assertions of JAMB matched against what many saw as the seeming innocence of the girl divided many Nigerians with some even taking the controversy to fan ethnic sentiments.

It is still not settled if the decision by Mmesoma’s father to apologise would remove the sanctions already placed on the daughter.
