Edo 2024: Central Leaders Must Humble Themselves Before South – Agbonayinma, APC Aspirant

Edo State All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma has tasked Edo Central political stakeholders to humble themselves before their colleagues in Edo South before they can fulfil the aspiration of having a governor of the state from Central.

Speaking on Thursday in an interview, Agbonayinma, a former member of the House of Representatives from Edo South and presently a member of the board of the Code of Conduct Bureau averred that the permutations in the state have put Edo South who are mostly Bini with the majority of the population who should as such always determine elections.

Affirming that propaganda will not give Edo Central the governorship, Agbonayinma deposed that the political leaders of the area must with humility come to negotiate with Edo South as the only condition that can pass on the governorship to the Esan-speaking region.

Agbonayinma spoke in an interview on Arise News.

He said:

“It is not about shouting it is my turn, let the best person emerge and I believe that I am one of the best persons to move Edo State forward and without fear or favour I can say that I have the capacity. I have done it before in the House of Representatives when I was there moving motions and bringing constituency projects to my people.

“Asked on the prospects of Edo Central the only region that has not produced a governor for a four year tenure in Edo State, Agbonayinma said:
“Politics is about numbers, politics is about majority, politics is about the people and democracy is about people for the people and by the people.

“There is no one man or woman that should say it must be me, he must be able to go out there and convince the people. They have the right to aspire, but the issue of saying that it must be Edo Central because they have not had it for some time…

“If they are able to negotiate their way out, fine, but you don’t have the right to say it must be you. It is the people of Edo State that must decide, yes it is you that we are supporting. And if they are able to convince the people of Edo South, so be it, but I am telling you, the game of politics doesn’t work that way. In the game of politics, the majority will always have their way while the minority will have their say.”

Edo Central Must Humble Themselves – Agbonayinma

“If the issue is that Edo Central must be, must be, no politics is never played that way. All over the world it is the majority that will always decide what happens. It is when the majority now finds that these people have been able to now humble themselves, with a sense of humility and able to put out their things..”

“But you cannot just come to Edo South people that have over 58% majority and at the end of the day you are telling us we are not important? Edo North is about 23% or more, and they are also aspiring,” Agbonayinma said as he deposed that Edo Central has always contested for the governorship in the past even when it was the turn of others.
