fuel price hike anxiety

A shocking video of President Bola Tinubu pledging to reduce the price of fuel in Nigeria prior to his emergence as president has surfaced bringing a bitter sweet tinge to his handlers on a failed promise by the new administration.

GWG.ng reports that the price per litre of fuel has surged from N197 to a staggering N617, leaving people grappling with the burden of soaring transportation costs and the inflated prices of essential goods in major markets.

The current development has left many Nigerians disillusioned and disheartened, as they recall an old video that resurfaced online. The video, taken from a campaign rally in the capital of Ogun State on January 25, 2023, shows President Tinubu promising a brighter future under his leadership.

Speaking passionately in the Yoruba language, he assured the crowd that despite speculations that petrol prices would reach N200, his administration would review the situation and bring down the prices for the benefit of the people.

However, as the days passed, those promises seemed to crumble like sand in the wind.

As news of the broken promises spread like wildfire, citizens took to social media and online forums to express their frustration and disappointment.

Meanwhile, Nigerians continue to bear the brunt of the fuel price hike, hoping for relief that remains elusive. As the nation’s economic future hangs in the balance, the words spoken at that campaign rally in January now ring hollow, a stark reminder of the unfulfilled promises that have left the nation in turmoil.
