DSS In Suspense As Court Grants Emefiele Bail
The Department of State Services, DSS has been put in suspense after a federal high court sitting in Lagos granted bail to the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, in the sum of N20 million.
The presiding judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo granted him bail upon the claim that the offences he was charged for are bailable.

The bail was granted with one surety in like sum.
Emefiele had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
GWG.ng reports that Emefiele made the plea when he appeared before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The appearance in court was the first time that Emefiele was seen in public since he was suspended and then arrested while in Lagos on June 10, 2023, two weeks after President Bola Tinubu was inaugurated.
During the hearing, a group known as the Coalition of Nigerian Civil Society on Tuesday prayed a Federal High Court to allow it hold a watching brief in the arraignment of immediate past Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele charged with illegal possession of firearms
The group represented by five senior lawyers stormed the court and took their seats at the back saying they are lawyers in defence of democracy.
However, it is not known if with the bail granted Emefiele by the court if the DSS will release the suspended CBN governor given the antagonism between him and the DSS.
