The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC has reiterated its decision to go ahead with the Wednesday nationwide protests against recent policies of the Federal Government.

The NLC decision came following the end of its meetings with a Federal Government delegation where it affirmed that its decision to go ahead with the protest was not changed.

In a statement posted on its twitter handle, the NLC said that the government delegation at the meeting did not give adequate satisfaction on labour’s concerns on its recent policies including the hike in PMS prices, the repair of local refineries, payment of salaries of university lecturers among others.

Earlier while speaking to reporters, NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero had urged workers to discountenance reports it claimed were insinuating that the protest had been called off.

“We have no reasons to call off the planned protest. If we suspend or call it off, you will know. I can tell you that the mobilization is very high,” he said concerning the NLC protest on Wednesday.

However, reacting to President Tinubu’s plan to intervene on exhange rate over inflation and high cost of gasoline prices, Ajaero said, “By the time you have a single market and you are not having anything that has a comparative advantage, your energy is import driven, then how are you going to control it?

“How are you going to control somebody that exchanged dollar at about 900 (naira)? Are you going to tell him to sell below the price?

“How are you going to tell even NEPA today, with the cost of production not to increase tariff? Even corn in the villages that was sold at N18,000 by February, now it’s about 56,000. How are you going to control it?”
