Unknown assailants gang-raped and killed an 18-year-old girl, Wassa Joel Tuwa in Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba state. It was reported that the lifeless body of the teenager was discovered by the roadside in Lankavirir village, behind a mountain near Jalingo.

A family source, Mr. Ayuba Solomon Bissa, who confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, said the victim left their family house in Jalingo to visit Lankavirir, on Saturday evening.

She decided to take a small market road around Lankaviri to shorten her journey, where the criminals attacked and killed her, Ayuba said. Ayuba further disclosed that a medical autopsy revealed that the victim was gang-raped before she was eventually killed.

“My younger sister (Wassa) left our family house here along Bishop’s coat Jalingo to the village in Lankavirir on Saturday, where the killers met her,” he said.

“Until Sunday morning, when a little boy who was hawking firewood discovered her lifeless body by the roadside and ran back to inform his parents of what he saw. Both the boy’s parents and other residents moved to the scene and discovered it was the lifeless body of my younger sister, Wassa

“We did not touch her; we invited the security personnel operating in the area to see and advise on what to do. The security men, comprising of the military and the police, came and advised us to convey the corpse to the mortuary and allow for a security investigation.

“We took the corpse to Federal Medical Center Jalingo, and after conducting the necessary tests, the doctor confirmed to us that the victim was gang-raped before she was killed

“I wish to appeal to the security operatives to deepen their investigation so that the perpetrators would be brought to justice,” he added. Meanwhile, the victim was laid to rest on Tuesday morning.
