The nationwide protest against the pains arising from the removal of fuel subsidy ended on a happy note in Akwa Ibom State as Governor Pastor Umo Eno took four actions to ameliorate the pains of workers in the state.

GWG.ng reports that the governor unfolded his four point action when he met with the leadership of Organized Labour who joined counterparts all over the country on a peaceful protest over the excruciating effects of fuel subsidy removal on workers.

In Abuja the protesting workers were made to pull down the gate of the National Assembly to get audience with the leadership of the National Assembly while workers in several other states took several actions to protest their worsened situation arising from the removal of fuel subsidy.

However, in Akwa Ibom, the protest took a different albeit, ended pleasurably when Governor Eno  identified with the plight of workers by making HAPPY announcements that disarmed the protesting workers.

Among others he announced the immediate release of One Billion Naira for settlement of gratuities of retired Primary School Teachers, release of Eight Hundred Million Naira to clear the backlog of Leave Grants for Workers, and that henceforth Leave Grant should be incorporated into monthly salaries for prompt payment.

Even more, Governor Eno resolved to set up a Committee for disbursement of Federal and State Government Palliatives in ten days to cushion effects of the subsidy removal and with these measures turned the protest in Akwa Ibom into a happy ending for the workers and government.
