Tension As Suspected Herdsmen Kill Three

Armed men suspected to be herdsmen on Tuesday evening, attacked and killed three people in Yantu Special Development Area of Taraba.

Taraba state police public relations officer (DSP), Usman Abdulahi who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said, team of security operatives has been drafted to the area to ensure normalcy and fish out the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator, Yangtu Special Development Area Mr Emmanuel Madaki while condemning the attacks, he explained that the victims were attacked while on their way to farm.

According to Madaki, Mr Rimamskep Atenji, Mr Andekwab Yakubu Ashasim and Mr ElKannah Akyara, both of Kuteb origin were attacked killed by bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

“It’s unfortunate that incidences of attacks are still happening on the Kuteb people when a peace accord between Fulani and Kuteb people is in place. Just yesterday, three of Kuteb youth, Mr Rimamskep Atenji, Mr Andekwab Yakubu Ashasim and Mr. ElKannah Akyara were killed by armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

“The innocent farmers were attacked and killed when they were going to farm in the morning,” the coordinator narrated.

Mr Madaki also appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas and the security agencies to step up action to ensure total peace in the area.

According to him, Kutebs were peace-loving farmers and were only determined to face their farming activities to complement the state government’s quest for food security and tackle the impending hunger been portray by fuel subsidy removal.
