Total Madness – Mr P Blasts ECOWAS Decision Against Niger Junta

Renowned Nigerian singer and one half of the P-Square duo, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has strongly criticized the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on its decision to employ its standby force in order to reinstate constitutional order within the Republic of Niger.

Mr P referred to this move as “total madness.”

ECOWAS’ President, Omar Alieu Touray, issued the directive during an extraordinary meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

This resolution, aimed at restoring stability in Niger, was met with a vocal response from Mr P, who took to his verified Twitter account to express his disapproval. He accused the regional organization of aligning with the Western nations to confront fellow African countries.

In a tweet, Mr P stated, “Africa joins the west to fight Africa. Total madness.”

The decision by ECOWAS to utilize its standby force in Niger has sparked significant debate, with divergent opinions on the appropriateness and implications of such a move within the West African region.
