A Nigerian TikToker has put forth a compelling argument in favor of enlisting popular rapper Naira Marley as a spokesperson for the campaign to boost awareness on drug abuse.

This intriguing perspective emerged following Naira Marley’s collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat drug misuse among the country’s youth.

Taking to his TikTok account, the individual, who goes by the handle @verydarrkmann, expressed his viewpoint regarding NDLEA’s decision to appoint Naira Marley as an ambassador to combat drug abuse. This choice stirred up reactions from netizens who raised concerns that the rapper’s suspected history of drug use.

The TikToker, however, stood in solidarity with NDLEA’s choice of Naira Marley for the drug abuse campaign and offered his own verdict on the matter. He maintained that Naira Marley, often associated with his hit track “Soapy,” is uniquely positioned to effectively convey the anti-drug message. According to his rationale, Naira Marley’s stature as a highly respected figure within society holds sway over the younger generation. Given that the rapper’s own drug use is public knowledge, the TikToker argued that the message would carry greater credibility when delivered by someone with firsthand experience.

In his words, he elaborated, “The youths trust Naira Marley, because if a smoker comes out to tell them that smoking is bad, they’ll believe the smoker. Than carrying someone who doesn’t smoke to tell people to stop smoking. Nobody is going to believe that there’s danger by smoking because he has no smoking experience. So Naira Marley is the perfect person to pass the message.”
