UNILORIN VC Reveals Resumption Date For New Students
Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN) has assured parents and other stakeholders that all the newly admitted students of the university would resume their various academic programmes in October this year.
Professor Egbewole gave this assurance when he paid an unscheduled visit to the university’s official radio station on Monday.
The Vice-Chancellor, who did not mention the specific number of candidates offered admission, explained that the admission exercise had been practically concluded as most of the successful candidates have been paying clearance fees confirming the acceptance of their admission.
The VC noted that the exercise went well as the University of Ilorin remains the most sought-after university in Nigeria, considering the number of candidates who applied for admission into the university.
The renowned legal luminary congratulated all the successful candidates and charged them to always be of good conduct, obey the rules of the university and be good ambassadors of their respective homes and parents.
Professor Egbewole, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), also said that all arrangements were being perfected to have hitch-free rain semester examinations, which commenced (today) Monday.

The Vice-Chancellor, who went round all the Faculties in the university to assess the level of preparations by lecturers and students for the forthcoming rain semester examinations, revealed that the purpose of his unscheduled visit was to assess how much of lectures had been concluded and what was left to be covered.
Professor Egbewole assured members of the university community, particularly students and staff, that his observations would be put together and thoroughly analysed in order to effect necessary corrections.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, said that he was impressed with the level of preparation on the part of the students and lecturers for the examinations.
Professor Egbewole also admonished the staff and students of the university to continue to key into the vision of his administration “so that our target to become the Number One University in Nigeria, one of the best 10 in Africa and among the best 500 in the world” would be realised.
He also encouraged staff and students of the nation’s most sought-after university to have belief in the university and, therefore, contribute their quotas towards its development, saying that “if everybody cleans his or her corner, it would be to the benefit of all”.
The Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law insisted that all hands must be on deck for the university to experience rapid development in all ramifications.
On the entourage of the Vice Chancellor were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof Suleiman Funso Ambali; the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; the University Bursar, Mr Hakeem Sonde; and the Dean of Communication and Information Sciences, Prof. Lukman Adeshina Azeez; amongst others.
