Associates of former President Muhammadu Buhari are accusing the 14th Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II of colouring his public comments with bitterness and using the former president to win back the confidence of President Bola Tinubu.

A senior associate of the former president disclosed that Garba Shehu who has been responding for the camp would not issue a formal statement to counter Sanusi after he accused President Buhari of incompetence for the eight years he held watch over the country.

Sanusi had further accused the former president of encouraging a culture of corruption that allowed a jobless boy to buy a private jet under his watch.

However, speaking to GWG.ng a close associate of the former president said that Mallam Garba Shehu would not be told to issue a formal response as the camp saw Sanusi as being trapped in bitterness arising from his dethronement.

Buhari has denied encouraging the dethronement despite the assertions of the former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso that the former president encouraged the deposition of Sanusi.

Besides the bitterness, the Buhari associate told GWG.ng that Sanusi was trying to use Buhari to worm his way back into the Tinubu camp after the fiasco over his recent unauthorized mediation in the Niger Republic coup saga.

“You know he is embittered and we will not respond to him,” the associate said on the basis of confidentiality.

“For us the fact is that the former emir is trying to appease Tinubu by getting at Buhari. You know Tinubu was livid over his unauthorized mission to Niger. The president didn’t send him, he went on his own and we feel that this is a way for him to try to appease Tinubu,” the Buhari associate said of the attack by Sanusi.
